PMCA Excluder Ultimate Gourd Crescent
The Excluder Gourd is designed for the benefit of the purple martin. The excluder gourd offers two patented entrance holes (U.S. Patent number 6513454) and the crescent to exclude the European Starling from nesting. The closure cap is a necessity for doing nest inspections. To ensure your Excluder Gourd is providing the most resistance, it is recommended that the porches be placed either flush with the bottom of the starling-resistant entrance, or no more than 1/4" below the entrance. European Starlings have longer legs than Purple Martins, and by placing the porches closer to the bottom of the entrance, that helps prevent them from being able to grip onto the porch and trying to force their way in.
